Welcome to the Madonna House Shelter for Women and children in Quincy,
Illinois
Madonna House opened their doors to its first
family on Mother’s Day, 1988. Since its opening, Madonna
House has successfully served over 61,000 shelter nights to
families in need. The Madonna House mission statement is, “To
provide a safe nurturing home environment where homeless pregnant
women and women with children can break the cycle of instability.”
Madonna House offers programs to families in need with our primary program being the shelter for women and children. We can house up to 13 people (or five families) at one time. We immediately provide shelter, food, clothing and hygiene products to the families when they first come to Madonna House. During their stay with Madonna House, we continue to promote their strengths while we address their weaknesses. Through guidance, encouragement, referrals and case management services, we help families in reaching and maintaining independence, strengthening family bonds, promoting healthy pregnancies, and improving decision-making skills.
The Madonna House has a diaper pantry for
the community! We accept all sizes for donations, but
4-5 seem to go the quickest.
We thank you in advance for your support both past and present and also in the future during estate planning. Let Madonna House help keep your legacy alive! Barb Hicks

“It’s not what happens in your life that makes you who you are; it’s how you deal with it.”

While residing at Madonna House, she completed high school and earned her G.E.D., appeared on a national television show, and secured her own apartment prior to moving out.
“The easy road isn’t always the best road.”
“Madonna House isn’t just a shelter. There’s a food pantry, and clothing closet. The staff treats you like family. It’s a great place to be when you are in need.”
